Pan:
(Personal Area Network)

is a small network that covers a short distance, typically up to 10 meters. It is designed to connect personal devices such as smartphones, laptops, printers, and headsets.

 

Lan:
(Local Area Network)

connects devices in a limited geographical area, such as a home, school, office building, or a group of nearby buildings. LANs are typically privately owned and secured. They enable devices to share resources like printers, files, and internet access.

 

Man:
(Metropolitan Area Network)

spans a larger geographical area than a LAN, typically a city or a metropolitan area. It can connect multiple LANs within a city and may be owned by a government agency or a private company.

 

Wan:
(Wide Area Network)

covers a large geographical area, such as a country, continent, or even the entire world. WANs typically use leased communication lines or public networks like the internet to connect geographically distant locations.

 

San:
(Storage Area Network)

is a high-speed network that connects storage devices to servers in a data center. It allows for centralized storage management and shared access to storage resources.

 

VPN:
(Virtual Private Network)

creates a secure tunnel over a public network like the internet. It allows users to connect to a private network remotely as if they were physically connected to it.
